This Trustees' Week, we ask Lorna Ireland of our Board of Trustees why she became involved in supporting our work and what she's gained.

Lorna Ireland BA (Hons), MSc

Lorna is Manager for the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London with overall responsibility for managing the professional and technical services teams supporting Research, Education, HR, Finance, Marketing and Public engagement. Lorna is a trained workplace mediator, Prince 2 Practitioner and Mental Health First Aider.

Lorna first became involved with the Charity in 2014 after a close family bereavement led to an intervention from her son’s school and to an introduction with Child Bereavement UK. The support received from the Charity was pivotal in providing her then then 7-year-old son with the space and support needed to talk about his feelings and tools for the family to learn how to live with their grief. Lorna is hoping to be able to give back to the Charity by being a Trustee; imparting some of her professional skills and contributing to the Charity’s widening participation agenda.
