Philanthropy and major gifts Philanthropic giving and major gifts are crucial to the future of Child Bereavement UK, helping us to sustain our established services and build solid foundations for the charity to further evolve and innovate. We are extremely grateful to all of our current donors who have joined us in ensuring that all families are able to access the support they need to rebuild their lives, when a child grieves or when a child dies. How can I give a gift? At Child Bereavement UK, we are very grateful for gifts of any size. Major gifts can be given to support our core work of supporting families and educating professionals, or as a restricted donation pertaining to a specific project or area of our work. For annual gifts, we have The Patron’s Pledge which is supported by our Royal Patron HRH The Prince of Wales. The Patron’s Pledge brings together philanthropic individuals and organisations who pledge their long-term support on an annual basis. This support is vital in enabling us to plan future growth with more certainty and increase our reach to communities where support is most needed. We will arrange with you an individual plan around when and how you would like to make your donations; these can be made annually, quarterly or via monthly direct debits. We are able to give you guidance on gift aid and tax efficient giving and can accept most forms of charitable giving including through Trusts and Foundations, CAF, BACS, cheque and international donations via IBAN, Swift, CAF America and CAF American Donor Fund. Our promise to you We recognise that providing support at this level requires deep trust and belief in our work and a desire to make a real difference to people’s lives when they are faced with the devastation of child bereavement. We promise to work in partnership with you as a valued supporter and you will enjoy a close connection with the charity through a dedicated contact who will keep you informed of charity developments and important events, and who will regularly share the positive difference we are making together to the lives of those we support. We will endeavour to offer interesting suggestions for ways to be involved with our work and engage with our beneficiaries and will work with you to help you to achieve any goals you may have through your support of Child Bereavement UK. We had been keen supporters of Child Bereavement UK for several years when we made the decision to deepen our commitment by joining the Patron’s Pledge. We liked the idea of giving a dedicated donation over a number of years, enabling the charity to plan better for the future. Over the years we have developed strong personal connections with the charity and regularly speak about how they're finding new ways to meet the challenges of our changing times. - Current member of The Patron’s Pledge who has committed 10 years of support How your support could make a difference £1,000 could fund a programme of support for a family with young children whose mum or dad has died. £5,000 could fund our entire Support & Information service, including our freephone Helpline, for a week, providing a lifeline for families seeking support after the death of someone important to them. £10,000 could provide 500 professionals across the UK with bereavement awareness training, helping them to better understand grief and loss for children and young people as well as providing practical support and resources. £30,000 could enable us to respond to 1000 calls to our freephone helpline from families seeking a lifeline after the death of someone important to them. £100,000 could fund our support service for schools for a whole year, equipping school staff and teachers with the tools and confidence to support their school community after the death of a pupil, parent, or teacher.
