Study day Book here Join us for this interactive study day which brings Child Bereavement UK together with experts in the field of substance use who will be sharing their knowledge and inviting discussion and debate. Who should attend? Professionals working with children & young people in education, NHS workers, social workers, schools, youth offending teams and probation teams. 29 June 2023: 9.30am to 4pm Child Bereavement UK will present on the impact on the family when someone dies and the trauma surrounding a death due to substance use. Speakers from We are With You and SFAD (Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs) will be sharing their expertise in substance use, discussing the importance of appropriate language, the prevalence of drug related deaths and also the societal stigma surrounding substance use. Although this study day is online there will be plenty of opportunity to network and meet other professionals. Learning Outcomes: Topics will include - Understand more about substance use Myths, facts and statistics around drug deaths Impact on the family and wider relationships Anticipatory grief and trauma Use of language and how the media contributes to the stigma Dealing with and addressing the stigma around bereavement through substance use Reviewing the latest statistics Tools & resources to support yourself and others Cost: £60 The study day is usually £100 to attend, however due to funding from GSK we are able to offer this study day at a reduced price of £60. We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Generally speaking, our training is not usually suited to anyone who has suffered a recent, significant personal loss or bereavement.
