Why Child Bereavement UK?

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. We aim to ensure the accessibility of high quality child bereavement support and information to all families and professionals by increasing our reach; plugging the gaps that exist in bereavement support and training across the country; and embedding standards in the sector.

When you fundraise for us, you’ll receive:

  • a welcome email & fundraising pack from our events team
  • a charity branded running vest to wear on the day with iron on letters
  • support from our dedicated fundraising & events team to achieve your target
  • e-newsletters updating you with news throughout the charity
  • access to our online Facebook group, where other fundraisers share training and fundraising advice

As a way of showing our appreciation, we decided as a community to take on the Great North Run for the first time in 2017! A team of ten adults ran the iconic half marathon in memory of our student and in memory of two other former students who had died the same year. Numerous students ran the Junior Run in memory of their friend.
The event itself is unique in bringing together so many people, many of whom have stories of their own, and running the route and crossing the line in our branded vests was a very emotional moment. We raised £7000 that year, and have gone on to run again in 2018 and are set to repeat it in 2019! It has given us all a purpose and it is great to be able to show our continuing gratitude to such an amazing charity and the work of the people involved.

Please note: due to the ongoing pandemic, there may be changes made to events that are outside of Child Bereavement UK's control. If any changes are made, such as a change in date, we will ensure to inform you as soon as possible.
