Edinburgh Marathon

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival attracts around 30,000 runners annually, with thousands of cheering supporters on the side-line. With nine races to choose from over the two day event, there really is something for everyone.

This surprisingly flat course takes in the historic landmarks of Edinburgh as well as offering picturesque views of the East Lothian coastline – it’s perfect for runners chasing a personal best.

Every mile you run and every penny you raise will help to support our work with bereaved families.

Why Child Bereavement UK?

Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. We support children and young people (up to the age of 25) when someone important to them has died or is not expected to live, and parents and the wider family when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying. We provide training to professionals in health and social care, education, and the voluntary and corporate sectors, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.

When you fundraise for us, you’ll receive:

support from our dedicated fundraising and events team to achieve your target
e-newsletters updating you with news from across the charity
access to our online Facebook group, where other fundraisers share training and fundraising advice

As soon as I signed up for the marathon, the Child Bereavement UK team were fantastic, sending me training, fundraising and support tips, to helping with my fundraising; in fact they were there for pretty much anything I needed! On the day before the marathon I received a phone call to wish me luck and thank me for raising money for the charity and during the marathon there was a brilliant cheer squad to keep me going!

When your baby dies

When a baby lives only a short time or dies before birth due to miscarriage, stillbirth or a painful decision to end the pregnancy, people may assume that the loss is not important. This is simply not the case.
