Child Bereavement UK’s online baking competition, Battle of the Bakes with Mary Berry is open to UK residents only.

Any person of any age and ability can enter, but under 18s must have permission from their parent/guardian to do so. This competition is not open to staff members of Child Bereavement UK.

HOW to enter

  1. Make a suggested donation* of £5 to Child Bereavement UK by texting BestBake to 70085 (Text messages cost £5 plus your standard mobile network rate) and take a screenshot of your donation.
  2. By midnight on Wednesday 28 April, on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, upload a photo of your best bake together with the screenshot of your donation. Tag Child Bereavement UK and use the hashtag #BattleOfTheBakes If you do not use the hashtag, we cannot guarantee your entry will be accepted. Participants can enter multiple times, but we kindly ask that each separate bake be accompanied by a suggested donation* of £5.
  3. On Thursday 29 April, Child Bereavement UK will select their Top 10 Bakes.
  4. From 9am on Friday 30 April until midnight on Sunday 9 May there will be a public vote to decide the Top 3 Bakes. Members of the public can vote by texting 1BestBake, 2BestBake, 3BestBake etc to 70085, donating £5 (usual mobile network charges will still apply).
  5. On Monday 10 May, the Top 3 Bakes will be sent to Mary Berry for judging and on Wednesday 12 May the winner will be announced via Child Bereavement UK’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.

*Child Bereavement UK is a charity that receives no guaranteed statutory funding and your support is therefore hugely appreciated. If, however you would prefer not to make a donation, you can enter for free by sending a photo for your best bake to [email protected]

By entering the competition you agree to Child Bereavement UK sharing your photos/username on their social media platforms and website. This could be for promotional purposes relating to this campaign and future Battle of the Bakes with Mary Berry competitions, or for fundraising in general. Please try to avoid any photographs of bakes with people in.

Each entry must have been baked, created and decorated by the entrant(s).

This is not a raffle and multiple entries of the same baked item will not increase your chance of winning.

Entries received after Wednesday 28 April, and votes received after Sunday 9 May will not be accepted, but the £5 donation will still stand.

This is an online competition and Child Bereavement UK encourages participants to enter by tagging them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter whenever possible. If however you do need to send a photo of your best bake to the charity, please email [email protected]. We will not be able to accept entries via post.

The Top 10 Bakes will be chosen by Child Bereavement UK’s fundraising team based on general appearance, originality, creativity, skill and technique. Bakes will not be tasted. The Top 3 Bakes will be the bakes that receive the most number of public votes. The winner will be judged by Mary Berry and all decisions are final.

The winner will receive a signed Mary Berry book, a Kenwood Chef Elite Mary Berry Special Edition (RRP £399.95) and Lakeland vouchers worth £300. All prizes are non-transferable. These items will be delivered to the winner’s preferred UK address via courier.

Child Bereavement UK reserves the right to cancel this competition at any time, if necessary, but donations already received will not be refunded. Child Bereavement UK takes no responsibility for the ingredients, tools, or recipes used in Battle of the Bakes with Mary Berry.

Thank you so much for helping to raise some dough for Child Bereavement UK and we wish you the best of luck!
