This course explores traumatic bereavement in children and young people and considers what helps in their grief and when additional support might be required.

Who should attend?

All those whose work brings them into contact with grieving children and young people who have experienced a traumatic bereavement.

Learning outcomes

You will:

  • Increase understanding of the nature of traumatic bereavement
  • Develop greater awareness of the initial support that can be helpful in response to trauma.
  • Increase your awareness of the impact of trauma on grieving.
  • Develop greater confidence in identifying children and young people who may require additional support because of their response to trauma
  • Increase your awareness of services that can offer specialist support.
  • Increase your awareness of your own needs as a professional carer, and explore ways to support ourselves and  our colleagues
  • Gain information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations and resources available.

Cost: £45

We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Our training is not usually suited to anyone who has suffered a recent, significant personal loss or bereavement.
