This three-hour webinar is aimed at all those involved professionally in the Child Death Review process and will consider both the practical aspects of the processes but also the emotional aspects of supporting bereaved families; it will include discussion of the role of the Key Worker / Family Liaison.

Who should attend:

This training is suitable for individuals whose work brings them into contact with families involved in a Child Death Review: for example, CDR keyworkers, family liaison staff, police and coroners’ officers, doctors, nurses, midwives, health and social care staff, hospice staff..

Learning outcomes:

To ensure that professionals, whose role involves supporting families within the Child Death Review Process , have:
  • An awareness of the impact of bereavement and grieving on individual family members (parents, siblings, wider family).
  • An awareness of the additional pressures on those bereaved when a child dies.T
  • Greater confidence in communicating with bereaved families.
  • Wider understanding of the factors that can affect grieving.
  • Understanding of the impact of investigative processes on the family.
  • Awareness of the impact of this work on their own well-being.
  • Knowledge of where to access / signpost to further help and resources.
