Training Bookings Book training Supporting bereaved pupils and managing grief in schools Book here This course explores the impact of grief and bereavement in schools, nurseries, colleges, and other educational settings. Focusing on the important role of a school when managing bereavement, you will be guided through how to develop a bereavement-aware culture within your setting, and the resources needed to create your own ‘bereavement tool-kit’. 10 September 2024: 9am - 12pm 21 November 2024: 9am - 12pm 22 January 2025: 9am - 12pm Who should attend? Suitable for professionals working in schools or early years settings, including: teachers and teaching assistants; keyworkers and members of a welfare or pastoral support team; SENCo; and others directly supporting bereaved young people as well as senior leaders, governors and policy makers. Learning outcomes You will: Develop an understanding of the impact of loss and grief on children and young people's physical and emotional health, including their learning. Gain insight into children and young people's reactions to loss and grief, and how a school might respond to meet the needs of grieving pupils. Consider strategies for pastoral support appropriate to the age and developmental stage of the pupils. Recognise the importance of creating a bereavement-aware culture within school, and the implementation of a robust bereavement policy or charter. Explore a range of resources and support information to establish a ‘bereavement tool kit’ for your school/setting. Gain information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations and resources available. Cost: £45 We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training.
