Distance: 26.2 Miles | Registration Fee: £50 | Fundraising Target: £500

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival attracts around 30,000 runners annually with thousands of cheering supporters on the side-line. With 9 races to choose from over the two day event, there really is something for everyone. Not only do you have the option to run the classic 26.2 mile race, but also available is a half marathon, a 10K & 5K race as well as a team relay.

This surprisingly flat course takes in the historic landmarks of Edinburgh as well as offering picturesque views along the East Lothian coastline – it’s perfect for runners chasing a personal best.

Every mile you run and every penny you raise will help us in rebuilding lives together.

Why Child Bereavement UK?

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. We aim to ensure the accessibility of high quality child bereavement support and information to all families and professionals by increasing our reach; plugging the gaps that exist in bereavement support and training across the country; and embedding standards in the sector.

When you fundraise for us, you’ll receive:

  • a welcome email & fundraising pack from our events team
  • a CBUK running vest to wear on the day with iron on letters
  • support from our dedicated fundraising & events team to achieve your target
  • e-newsletters updating you with news throughout the charity
  • access to our online Facebook group, where other fundraisers share training and fundraising advice

Once I signed up to the run marathon for Child Bereavement UK, the team were fantastic in sending me monthly emails that included training, fundraising and support tips. To help with my fundraising, they also sent me my running vest (which I wore on some of my training runs to build awareness) along with promotional materials; posters, collection tins, balloons in fact pretty much anything I needed. On top of this I received some lovely, personal emails from the team asking how things were going and if I needed anything. On the day before the marathon I received a phone call from the Child Bereavement UK team to wish me luck and thank me for raining money for their charity. During the marathon there was a brilliant group of Child Bereavement UK supporters en-route cheering me on. After the marathon, I received a lovely thank you letter showing the total amount I raised and explaining how it will help this fantastic charity.
